ROTORUA NOTES.

Miss Sargeant and Mr. S. Sargeant, Amohia Street, have returned from a visit to Okoroire and Arapuni. Miss V. C'hong has returned from a visit to New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. J. «J. Nixon, who have been on a visit to ltotorua, have returned to their home in Ponsonby. Miss W. Willis is spending a holiday in Wellington, and will later visit Christchurcli and Timaru. Mrs. Grove, sen.. Miss D. Corlett, Mr. F. Grove and Mr. A. Bees-George have returned to Rotorua from a motor tour of the Bay of Plenty and the Taranaki districts. Mrs. Johnson and Miss Johnson, who have been the guests of Mrs. Elliott, Ohinemutu, have returned to Takapuna. Miss A. Searell, matron of King George V*. Hospital, has left on a month's holiday, part of which will be spent in Auckland. Mrs. Giesen and Miss J. Giesen, Hinemaru Street, have returned from a holiday spent at The

Mount. Miss McPhcrson, of King George V. Hospital, is spending a holiday in Auckland. Mrs. A. Holland and family, Carnot Street, are staying at Monnt Maunganui. Mr. and Mrs. T. McDowell have returned from Auckland. Miss Dora Grove, of New Plymouth, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Grove, sen. During the week-end a team of tennis players from Matamata visited Rotorua, when interesting matches were plaved against members of the local club, and which resulted in the visitors being victorious. The visitors were: Misses Beverley (2), Green, Andrews, Stewart and Gamble, Messrs. Thompson, Cox, Ward, Egan, Reed and Bullivant. A successful open-air conccrt, held under the auspices of the Entertainment Committee of the Rotorua Borough Council and organised by Mr. R. B. Nesbitt, took place at the Tea Kiosk, Government Gardens, on Wednesdav evening. Items were given by Mrs. Richards and Miss Ellis, pianoforte solos; Miss T. Giesen, Mr. A. W. Shaw and Mr. S. Ha u papa, songs: Miss Grace Montgomery, Irish jigs; Mr. Joe Hall, ■hula hula; Mr. Sharp, saxophone solos. The accompanists were Mrs. Richards, Miss Ellis and Mr. Hunter. At the Peerless Hall on Wednesday evening an enjoyable dance and 500 tournament was held by the Rotorua Caledonian Society. The stage was "arranged for the card players, the prizes being won by Mrs. Aitken and Mr. Pennington. The "K"' Boys' Orchestra supplied delightful music, and the Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Lindsay

and Mr. Morel&nd. During the evening the president of the society, Dr. J. A. Paterson, on behalf of the W&ipu Caledonian Society, presented a handsome silver cup, the Hector Macdonald Cup, to Mr. Donald McLennan, who had been successful in winning two yeara in succession.
