CHAMPION CYCLISTS.
THE AUSTRALIANS' VISIT.
AN AMENDED ITINERARY.
A special meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association in Wellington this week considered the visit of J. Standen and D. Gray, the Australian amateur cycling champions. Both riders, who arrive at Wellington by the Makura on Monday, have been selected to represent Australia at the Olympic Games this year. Originally it was understood that Standen would bring a trainer with him, but it was later agreed to allow Gray to come in lieu of a trainer.
The itinerary for the Standen-Gray tour has been amended to provide for the cyclists competing at meetings as under:—
February I.—Wanganui. February 2 or 3.—Hawera. February 4. —New Plymouth. February 7. —Gray at Carterton. February B.—Standen at Napier. February 11.—Wellington. February 15 and 18.—Christchurch. February 22 and 25.—Dunedin. February 29.—Mastcrton. March 3.—Wellington. March 7.—Petone. March 10.—Auckland.
The cyclists arc to leave Auckland on March 16 for Sydney. It is possible that the Wellington centre may agree to exchange its second date (March 3) with Masterton.
