INTERVIEW WITH MINISTERS

With a view to formulating some workable scheme whereby adequate and satisfactory transport services may be supplied for suburban districts at prefent indifferently served, the Mayor of Auckland (Mr. Baildon), Mr. Brigham (town clerk), Mr. Ford (general manager of tramways) and Mr. Allum (cliairman of tramways committee) had a long interview this morning with the Prime Minister (the Hon. J. G. Coates) and the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. K. S. Williams). After two Ministers had left to attend to other duties, Mr. F. W. Furkert, engineer-in-chief to the Public Works Department, discussed matters with the party. Everything was done in private. Se».n by the ' Star's" representative at the dose of the morning coi?*ultations, jli. Baildon said that negotiations had not been finalised. "We have still a lot to do and will come back this afternoon. We have several propositions to put before them," he said, "but they have decided on nothing yet. I may be able to mf ir« a statement before we return to Auckland this'evening."
Jftmbers of Parliament continue to prett for legislation which will better ifei position, and this afternoon Mr. Jordifi (Manukau) will ask the Prime Minister whether a bill will be introduced this session to provide for the letting up of a transport control board.
