COLLIDES WITH CYCLE.
THEN DAMAGES IT
In addition to being charged with drunkenness in Queen Street yesterday, Arnold McDonald (28) appeared at the Police Court this morning on a charge of committing mischief by wilfully damaging a cycle to the extent of 7/6.
He pleaded guilty. Senior Sergeant McCarthy said that McDonald collided with a cycle ridden by a telegraph messenger near the Post Office. Afterwards he put his foot through the spokes of one wheel. One telegraph messenger held on to accused while the other boy went and called a constable. McDonald was fined 10/ or 24 hours on the first charge and fined £1 and ordered to make good the damage done. In default, seven days* imprisonment.
