NO SHORTER WEEK.
44-HOUR CLAIM REJECTED. (Received 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. On a majority judgment the Commonwealth Arbitration Court refused an application by the Federated Agricultural Implement and Machinery and Iron Workers' Association of Australia for a 44-hours week in the agricultural implement making industry as the reduction of the working week would injure the industry and weaken it in the face of keen overseas competition.
