The Card.

Usual Trot Opens The

Programme.

As usual the bill-of-fare will open •with the Introductory Trot, but this time the distance will extend to two miles instead of a mil© and a half. On recent form Billy Carbine, Real Todd, and Colonel Thorpe can be counted out, and Royal Bob will have to make a much better showing than on Saturday to have a chance. The same can be said- of Roma Bingen and Gold Star. Roez, who won the first day off the limit, is now 108 yds behind, which shonld make things hard for her. Bright Light, 12yds, and Peter Tracy, 24yds. let their supporters down the first day, but both may do a lot better this time. In a mile and a half on Saturday, Great Change was on 84yds, but did not start, and looks well treated now on 96ydS in two miles. Anseline, 108 yds, will have to go solid all the way to get the money. It should be a more interesting race than on Saturday, with good money for BRIGHT LIGHT. GREAT CHANGE. PETER TRACY. A Big Field. Although Padlock was not one of the limit division when he won on Saturday, the--winner of improvers' races invariably. comes from the front end, and there are'no less than fifteen there in

the Epsom Handicap. Much will depend upon the draw, those in the front row , having a big advantage. Red Star and Dillon Huon weit good races on Saturdays, and Concertina was finishing on after being well back at one stage. Hohbro is a likely sort to win, and Beaity and Surveyor may be in the betting. It is the kind of race in which there may be a big surprise, but on Saturday's form consideration will be shown to

DILLON HUON. RED STAR. HOHORO.

Unhoppled Horses. Events for unhoppled horses, and in which pacers compete, are never very " interesting, because few pacers can go two miles with the speed on without breaking several times. In the Papatoetoe Handicap there are eight trotters and nine pacers, and they do not make a Tery- attractive lot. Of those on the limit* Golden Grattan, Kolmax, and Great Eyre may be best, while Tony Victor, 24yds,. would be hard to beat if he reproduced his form of last season. Childe Audubon has a lot of speed, and Petroleuse, although giving away 84yds, is a solid little trotter. It is not a good race to bet on, but well-supported ones may be GOLDEN GRATTAN. CHILDE AUDUBON PETROLEUSE. A Small Field. There are seven acceptors for the Fergusson Handicap, and as Jewel Pointer and Amaris are in the same ownership there may be only six starters. Lord Nepean and Amaris are on the limit, and both should be held safe by Black Lila, who was only beaten half a length in the big race on Saturday. Holly Boy and First Carbine do not appeal, but Jewel Pointer, 60yds, and 'Cardinal Logan, 72yds, will be solidly supported. Cardinal Logan meets Jewel Pointer I2yds better than, when he finished third less than a length behind the Aucklander. It should be a good racc with the favourites CARDINAL LOGAN JEWEL POINTER. • BLACK LILA. Franklin Handicap. A very open race is the Franklin Handicap, in which some useful horses will be competing. The limit trio, Daytime, Buz Buz, and Reliance are not likely *o supply the favourites, but Padlock, 12yds, won so well on Saturday that there will be plenty of money for him. Gold Jacket should beat Woodvale, and Direct Morning and Nelson Tasker may not run out a solid two miles. Wallroon is a possibility, but Uncle Bert, Dick Dillon and Waikaha will be preferred. Florent has gone back to 60yds, which should make it hard for him. Nelson Fame does not go a good two miles. There .are several with a chance and preference may be shown for PADLOCK. GOLD JACKET. UNCLE BERT. The Trotters. Only seven will line up for the Visitors' Handicap for trotters, and if the recent form is a guide, the favourites Will be SISTER BEATRICE. TIGER SALVE. NGATIRA. Mile Saddle. small field will go out for the Dunedin Handicap, a mile saddle event. Capriel and Amaris are on the limit, and should go a smart eight furlongs, as should also Black Lila off 12yds. one time Anselm was inclined to m> brilliant in the saddle, and Lady Donmore, if a bit more reliable would have admirers. Holly Boy is too erratic, wit the honest All Bell has a chance. Nelson Fame at his best would beat the <• However, on recent form the , favourites will be BLACK LILA. amaris. ■ ..iniu' §& ALL BELL, 'IflHi?

jßoyal Oak Handicap.

The meeting will close with the Royal Oak Handicap, one mile and a quarter, and it should provide good betting. If Padlock is reserved for this race he will be in keen demand, as he should have no difficulty in going his handicap. Rua Pere would be hard to beat if he left the mark right, but he is a bit tricky. The same can be said of Kingsclere, Van Rich and Mulwaree are an honest pair, and Pitiroa would only want to be in anything like his old form to be in the money. Goldman should be the best of the others. If Padlock misses or does not run earlier in the day, big money should go on

PADLOCK. VAN RICH. MULWAREE.
