PRICES AT SMITHFIELD.
The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cablegram from its London office, dated November 18, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follows: —
New Zealand Wethers and Maidens.— Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561b and under, 6Msd per lb; 571b to 641b, 6d; 651b to 721b, 5%d; other brands. 561b and under, 5%d; 571b to 641b, 5%d; 651b to 721b, 5%d. New Zealand Ewes.—64lb and under, 4%d. New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury quality, 361b and under, 9%d; 371b to 421b, 9%d; 431b to 501b, 9d; seconds, B%d; selected brands, 361b and under, 9%d; other brands, first quality, 361b and under, 371b to 421b, 9M>d; second quality, 301b to 321b average, B%d. Argentine Lamb. —lirst quality, 361b and under, 7%d; 371b to 421b, 7'Ad. New Zealand Beef.—Ox, fores, 3%d; hinds, sVid. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox, fores, 4 Mid; hinds, 6%d. Argentine Frozen Beef.—Ox, fores, 4d; Frozen Pork. —801b to 1201b, B'£d; 1201b to 1801b, 6M;d. . _ Lamb Market—First quality is firm, stocks strongly held. Secondary ls weaker, owing to heavy supplies of Homekilled meat. . Mutton Market—Market is well supplied with wethers; market for ewes is firm, but there is little business. Generally the market has been overstocked with all descriptions of Home-killed meat. DAIRY PRODUCE.
Meswrs. Allen and Findlay, Ltd., have received the undermentioned cabled report from their principals, Messrs. Armour and Co., Ltd., dated London, November 18:— Butter: N.Z. new seasons, 1-4/, 1/8/, stored, 170/, 174/; unsalted, 188/, 190/; market steady. Cheese: N.Z., 97/, 100/; market steady. Messrs. Lennard and Sons were advised by Messrs. A. C. Rawson, Tooley Street, by cable, on Saturday, as follows: — Butter.—l 76/ to 178/. Market steady. Cheese—loo/ to 101/. Market steady.
DEMAND IMPROVING
LONDON, November 17
The butter market is firm and the demand is improving. Choicest New Zealand salted is quoted at 176/ to 178/; exceptionally good lots, 180/, Australian, 174/ to 178/. Unsalted butter is at about 10/ premium; Danish, 210/ to 212/. Some of the Port Caroline's New Zealand butter was tainted by bilge water. The cheese market is steadier; Isew Zealand, 98/ to 100/; Australian, 96/ to 98/.
