ARAPUNI LAKE.
CONTROL OF FISHING.
A NEW BOUNDARY.
" ACCLIMATISATION AREAS ALTERED. Apart from engineering difficulties, the making of the Arapuni Lake created a dilemma for the Auckland and Rotorua Acclimatisation Societies, as the boundary line between the two acclimatisation districts was in the vicinity, and it meant that each society would control an end of the lake. The Auckland body took the matter up, and as the outcome of representations made to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the boundary line has been altered, and from August 1 next the whole of the lake will & utlder the control of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society. •
As a trout-fishing water, the Arapuni Lake to be is considered as i possible rival to Lake Taupo, and steps have already been taken' to stock it with trout. An added advantage will be that the best of fishing will be brought much 1 closer to Auckland. -« r ~
