MATAMATA SEASON OPENS.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) MATAMATA, Monday. Matamata tennis courts were opened on Saturday. The president. Mr. L. Flower, announced that another new court was being laid, and the prospects looked bright. Matamata players had done well last season.
THAMES CLUB SEASON.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES. Monday. > Thames Tennis Club officially opened tlicij, season on Saturday. The president. Mr. .1. Lange, explained the objects of the Thani'-s Valley Association, and paid a tribute in ' the work of Dr. A. S. Gray and Messrs. C. J. Garland, S. Danby, and D. Currie. on behalf of the Thames Club.
SPRINGDALE CLUB. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE AKOHA, Monday. At the annual meeting of the Springtlnlc \ Tennis Club the president, Mr. E. Johnnsen, reported that heavy expenditure during the year on court equipment had practically eliminated the club's credit balance.'" The meeting accorded votes of appreciation : j to Messrs. Johansen, Walters, and Bovle for presentations of trophies. The fol.owing ' officers were elected :—-Patron. Mr. F. \Y. : Walters; president. Mr. E. Johansen vice-, presidents, Messrs. 1. A. Flsk, C. K. Mai-, eolm, J. H. Wells. W. S. Goosman, and A. Hunger: committee, Messrs. Bailey Malcolm. Old Wagstaff, and Heatou, and Misses Fisk, Hunger, Hallen. and Walters; dab captain, Mr. L. Bailey; delegates to the Piako Association, Messrs. Bailey an<l( - Boyle; selectors. Messrs. Bailey, \V -staff,",, 4nd Misses Walters and Flsk.
It was decided to open the season on Saturday, October 15, and to endeavour to >iay the semi-finals and finals for the ■Valters Cup on Easter Saturday.
