Golden Wedding is building up nicely, antl went very freely over five furlongs at Ellerslie last Saturday morning. She displayed plenty of pace as a two-year-old, and should run well in hack sprint events around the country circuit.

Catkin has been working in good style since the Avondale meeting, and Will strip in good fettle for his engagements at the Auckland Spring fixture. In the event of the Catmint gelding starting in the Auckland Guineas he will be ridden by A. £. Ellis.

Beau Cavalier has been withdrawn from the Onehunga Steeplechase, which was not unexpected, for the Chesterfield gelding has done no work on the local track for some weeka. The injury sustained to his knee through a fall on the road has now almost healed.

Trisco Jack, who captured the Dannevirke Hunt Club Steeplechase, has been accorded a nomination in the Waikato Steeples, to be run at Te Bapa on October 22. He is a brown gelding by Sir Frisco from a.Mahald spare, and is trained at Awapuni by H. Doyle. Buanui displayed a lot of speed in the early part of a six furlong gallop, at Ellerslie on Saturday last, although he was stopping rather badly towards the finish. He is engaged in a seven furlong event on Saturday next, but may require a race before being at his best. Rouex did not race with much success last season, but judging by his form at the Napier Park meeting the Kilbroney gelding may do a lot better this year. He is engaged in the Ling Memorial Stakes at Otaki on Friday next, and is a possibility in that event. Lady Spalpeen, who has been off the scene for some months, has been entered for both hurdle and fiat events at the forthcoming Waikato meeting. This mare won the Frankton Hurdle Race at Te Bapa in April last, but has failed to show any form since then. Bomford, who is engaged in the Gordon Handicap on Saturday at Ellerslie, is a four-year-old chestnut gelding by Nassau from Fallwin. He is owned and trained in the Cambridge district, being a member of W. M. Douglas' team at the above locality. Bennanee is evidently on the improve, judging by his form at the Hawke's Bay meeting. He only went under to Treshnm by a very narrow margin, and is stated to have been unlucky during the running. He is a good performer when at his best, and is due for a win at any time. Second Wind ran a good race in the Nursery Handicap at the Avondale meeting, and the rape appears to have improved him, for he. ran a smart halfmile on the No. 1 grass at Ellerslie last Saturday morning. He is a fine big two-year-old that will probably act a lot better when the ground is firm. Ned Kelly's name figures among the nominations for hurdle events at the Waikato meeting to be held this month. Reports from that district credit the Quin Abbey gelding with having shaped well on the few occasions that he nas been schooled, and it will be interesting to see him in action over the battens. Reports from Matamata credit Valkon with training on well, and he has-been en tered for the chief sprint event, the Kirikiriroa Handicap, run on the second day of the Waikato spring meeting. As a three-year-old last season the son of Valkyrian displayed great promise, and won the last five races which he contested at that age. Branson is getting through a lot of useful work at headquarters, and with the improved going the Grcyspear geldi'g should run well in hack events at too Auckland meeting. He showed up well in the Swanson Handicap at the Avonrlalc fixture, being with the leaden; t he straight .entrance, and the racing is, bound to improve him. JVmr.ris did not appear to be at all KuUcd by the heavy going at the Avon- -' *lo meeting, and can be cxpectcd tos' .ipe a lot better when the going is : ""i. She will be a starter in the Great "... M-pi-rs Guineas on' Saturday next, and ■aYi <> !v requ'rb to repeat h-r W.m .• 1 'i i.;.-.!:" I.'-r cue of i*i; is.-", ,

Te Monamii claims a double engagement at tfhe Auckland spring meeting, being in the Mitchelson Cup and the Flying Handicap, seven furlongs.

White Eye, a six-year-old sister to Snake, by Quin Abbey—Oison, owned in the Te Awamutu district, will make her first public appearance in a race at Te Ilapa this month.

Deligfttment was not paid up for in the Shorta Handicap at EllersOie, but has been left in the Mitchelson Oup, one mfi'le and a-'half. In distance races last season he did not stay very- welL

Ballymoy was sprinted on the course proper at Ellerslie this morning, and went very well over half a-mile. This mare is in pretty good fettle just now, and it should not be long before she gets on the winning list again 'if the going is firm.

Romantic figures among the acceptors for the Gordon Handicap, and if brought north he should give a good account of himself. Last season he was a pretty good performer, winning up to nine furlongs, and at the recent Wanganrii fixture finished third over a mile and 110 yards.

Bicolour, who won the Trial Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, is a full brother to Windbag. He only had one race as a two-year-old, and that was when he ran unplaced in a Maiden Handicap at Warwick Farm. Out of five starts last season he managed to get third in one event. He cost 10OOgs as a yearling, and Saturday was his first success.

J. Thorpe has added to his team a fine big two-year-old gelding by Duke Humphrey from Princess Hazel. He has just commenced work at £llerslie, and is very big in condition at the present time.

Despite the fact that Limerick was beaten in the Metropolitan Handicap at Randwick yesterday, he put up a great performance in getting second with 9.5. He was conceding Murillo 191b in heavy going, and according to the cable received anything but a good passage during the race. Limerick is engaged in the Craven Plate, one mile and a-quarter, to-mor-row.

Goulsboro': Royal Mint, Nastori or Oration, Charitaine, Star Comet and Hipo. T. Bound: Daddy's Girl, Master Doon, Valour and Oration. R.
