THIS MORNING'S GALLOPS.

STAR STRANGER GOES WELL.

ALLOWAY BREAKS FETLOCK.

The weather was fine though dull for training operations at Ellerslie this morning- The outside of the course proper, outside three trestles, was open for fast work, and the going was good, except for a couple of places near the six and three furlong posts, where the course is soft and had cut up badly with the recent racing on it. While galloping with Mask, Alloway broke one of his fore fetlocks, and had to be destroyed.

Before Breakfast. Queen Emerald ran seven furlongs in 1.37 3-5. ° Baby Bun and Star Comet, finished in front of Thursby over seven furlongs in 1.38 1-5. 6 King Emerald sprinted half a mile in 53 4-ss. Sleepy Sol, finished in front of Luxurious and Restaurant over six furlongs run in 1.22 2-5. Lady Robinson went seven furlongs in 1.39. Joy King sprinted home from the four furlong post in 525. Catoniau dashed over three furlongs in 40s. Acushla and a companion ran six furlongs in 1.23 3-5.

Ballymoy IL and Gold Acre hopped off at the half mile post, and the latter was in front for most of the way, but Ballymoy II was almost on terms when the post was reached, the time being 52 3-5.

Aussie ran half a mile in 52 1-5. Creation and Slump ran the last five furlongs of their work in 1.10. Thaw and Covent Garden finished together at the end of three furlong 3 in 38 4-ss. Alloway and Mask started off at the seven furlong post, and when the straight was reached Alloway appeared to be slightly in front, and going well. However, shortly afterwards something appeared to go wrong with him, and he came right over on Mask. When Mask had drawn clear of him Alloway went over further and almost hit one of the trestles in front of the judge's box. He was pulled up, and it was found he had broken one of his fore fetlocks, and he had to be destroyed. Mask's time was 1.34 2-5.

Sir Archie went round steadily and jumping away at the three furlongs post ran home in 395. Double Mint sprinted halfi a mile in 55 l-ss. War Officer finished well in front of Abbey Day over four furlongs in 54 3-ss. Antrim Boy ran half a mile in 55 2-ss. Judge's Box sprinted, but was not timed.

Sea Comet ran a round in 2.12 4-5. Royal March and Salamander went four furlongs in 56. Gaseony ran three furlongs in 38 4-5. Tidal and Whakarite covered five furlongs in 1.10 2-5. To Tahi and Ahi Xgaro ran four furlongs in 56. Gala Day and Damaris covered six furlongs in 1.21 4-5, Damaris being slightly ahead at the finish. Lysander ran four furlongs in 53 2-5. Town Guard was not doing his best to run five furlongs in 1.10 3-5. Whaka King and Automne finished in front of Fierv Lad over six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. Parfait Amour covered half a mile in 55 4-5, Nassock taking 55 2-5. Golden Wedding ran five furlongs in 1.11 3-5.

Knightlike and Marion's Birthday were in front of Second Wind at the end of three furlongs run in 39 2-5. Laughing Prince easily beat Ruanui over six furlongs in 1.21 1-5. Cohesion easily beat Serang over five furlongs in 1.8 4-5. Daddy's Girl ran the last half-mile of her work in 57 2-5. Great Charter sprinted tliree furlong? in 39.

fStar Stranger went a round, being picked up by Star God near the six furlong post. Ke ran the first three furlongs in 41 3-5, four in 54, five in 1.8 4-5, and the full distance in 2.4. The last six furlongs occupied 1.22 2-5. Considering the state of the ground this was a first-class performance.

After Breakfast. Right and Left was in front of Hone Hcke over half-a-mile in 54 4-ss.

Branson sprinted home from the three furlong peg in 53 3-ss.

Karamu was timed to run five furlongs in 1.11 4-5, and went well.

Scot Free and Amos finished together in front of Ponticus over five furlongs in 1.10 4-5. °

Lord Guy sprinted three furlong in 435, going nicely. ' ° Pompey was too good for Charitaine in a half-mile sprint, which occupied 555. Rahepoto and Wyoming were together with Killute well back, at the end of seven furlongs in 1.37 2-5. Te Monanui, with the worst of the weight and Desert Glow jumped off at the mile and a-quarter post, and finished the full distance in 2.21, the round occupying 2.7, and the last six furlongs 1.24. They were practically together throughout-, but Desert. Glow appeared to be going the better at the end. ■

Valour was a shade better than Metonic in a three furlong sprint run ill. 41s. Value and Prodice hopped off at the three furlong peg, and after running the first furlong in 12 4-ss, completed the journey in 52 2-ss. Master Clements defeated Rapoa over half-a-mile in 565, and Armenia and King Val ran a similar distance in 555. Hipo and Oration jumped off at the six furlong peg, running the first furlong in 12 3-ss, two in 26 l-ss, and three in 395, and the full distance in 1.21 4-5, with Oration doing it best at the finish. Archeno and Finelli were companions over six furlongs, which they ran in 1.21 1-5, the latter being in front. She got a break on Archeno at the start, and ran the first furlong in 12 3-ss, the second in 265, and three in £3 l-ss. Arch Queen and Golden Krist finished together in front of Ash Tray over six furlongs in 1.24 3-5. Avon Court was just in front of Envoy, with Justify further back, at the end of half-a-mile in 54 3-ss. Phaola commenced slowly from the seven furlong post, and was going well at the finish, her time being 1.38 2-5. Aggressive and Presumption sprinted home from the three furlong post in 41 , 2-5. There was little between them at the finish. Royal Mint and Mint Leaf were companions over a round. The first three furlongs were run in 435, five in 1.12, and the full distance in 2.6 4-5. Though they were about on terms when the post was reached, Royal Mint, who was on the inside, pleased most. Nastori joined in at the four furlong post, and was just ahead of them at the finish.

Master Doon ran half a mile in 525, and went very well.

Blue Sky started off over a round, but took charge of his rider and ran up to the new mile post. He went on again from the seven furlong post and came home in 1.47 from that peg.

The Jumpers. Master Arch (Regan) and Kanieliameha (Chaplin) jumped a couple of hurdles in good style. Edifice (Rutherford) shaped better than he did on Saturday over a few hurdles. Golden Glass (Mcßae) went a round of the schooling hurdles, and except that he hit the third fence hard his display was good. Jack Lamont (Sharkey) Jumped two hurdles safely. Wee Marble (Driscoll) gave a good display over two pony hurdles, and then jumped two ordinary hurdles in good style. Rafferty (Regan), Mangani (Mcßae), Glenlight (Tricklebank), Edifice (Rutherford) and Taitaiata (Morrison) started off for a round over the steeplechase fences, including the hill. Commencing at tiie sod wall Mangani showed the way along the fiat, but after negotiating the old water jump he swerved and ran around to the mile post and lost his rider. Rafferty led along the back and up the hill from Glenlight, Edifice, and Taitaiata, and after again jumping the fences on the flat they finished in that order, Rafferty and Glenlight giving a good display. Taitaiata appeared to be slightly when he pulled up.

Glenotus (Rae), and Simplicitu* (Sharkey) were given a similar task, and after jumping evenly throughout they finished on terms, though it was quite apparent Glenotus was being kept back to his companion. Spalmore (Rutherford) jumped two hurdles welL

WAIKATO HUNT MEETING. Mashoor was omitted from tie Hunters' Hurdle Race and the Ladies' Bracelet in the list of nominations fer the Waikato Hunt meeting.

SCRATCHINGS. Jtaasav, Ganymede and Torquil were withdrawn from ajl engagements at the Auckland Racing Club's spring meeting at 11.20 a.m. to-day. Covent Garden was withdrawn from the Great Northern Guineas and Episode from the Welcome Stakes at 1.25 p.m. to-day.
