WRIST BROKEN.
WHEN CRANKING A CAR. TRAVELLER'S MISHAP. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent. WHANGAREI, this day. Mr. Nat Gazzard, a well-known commercial traveller, met with a painful accident yesterday evening. Using his left hand, he cranked Mr. D. J. Bakers car, which, after it had fired, speeded up. It is surmised that the starting handle remained engaged for it hit Mr. Gazzard on the left wrist and broke it.
It is certain that there was no backfire, otherwise the engine would not have run. Mr. Baker was not aware of what had happened till Mr. Gazzard ceiled out to him to t,top the engine. He was quickly taken in a car to the hospital, and his injury was X-rayed this morning.
