WOMEN AND RELIGION.
MORE MEN CONVERTED,
REV. L. B. FLETCHER'S STATEMENT. It has generally been considered that the women are the real strength of the Christian Church, but a statement made last evening by the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher at Beresford Street Congregational Church affords matter for serious thought.
Addressing a gathering in connection with the convention of the Auckland Provincial Christian Endeavour Union, Mr. Fletcher said he considered that without doubt New Ze 1 jd was facing a spiritual crisis. The C.E. Union was an excellent organisation to look after the spiritual welfare of young people. There was no question that the power of religion had declined, particularly among women and girls. Nearly ten men were converted for every woman or girl. The only people who were holding back the onrush of worldliness were the spiritually-minded men and women of the past generation.
