REDUCTION IN KEROSENE.
OTHER LINES NO CHANGE. No alteration in prices has occurred over the week-end, with the exception that the British Imperial Oil Company notified to-day a reduction of 1/ per case for kerosene. That makes the price at Auckland 13/9 per case, less the usual discounts. The reduction will be passed on to consumers by retailers on tins or cases. Quotations for other lines remain as follow:
Butter and Cheese. First-grade factory butter, 1/10 per lb retail, Cash across counter, and secondgrade 1/9. Farmers' butter 1/3 to 1/6 per lb, according to quality. Cheese, 1/2 to 1/4 per lb, and 1/6 for extra matured brands.
Eggs. Fresh hen eggs, 1/8 per dozen; duck eggs, 1/6. Some shops are asking 1/9 for hen eggs. Bacon and Hams. Bacon, in cuts, 9|d to 1/5 per lb; in rashers, 1/4 to 1/5. "Whole hams, 1/3 to 1/4 per lb; in rashers, 1/8 to 1/9 per lb. Meat. Beef.—Sirloin 8d per lb, rib 6d; rolled beef 4d; steak sd, and rump steak 1/ per lb. Veal.—Fillets, lOd per lb; cutlets, lid.
Lamb.—Leg 1/2 per lb, hindquarters 1/, loin lOd, forequarter 7d, and chops 1/ per lb. Mutton.—Leg 8d per lb, loin 9d, shoulder 6d, and chops 1/ per lb. Sausages.—Pork 8d per lb, beef 6d per lb.
Tripe.—6d per lb. Cooked Meat.—Corned beef, 1/3 per lb; pressed beef, 1/2 per lb; roast mutton, 1/6 per lb; pressed tongue, 2/2 per lb; roast pork, 2/ per lb; pressed ham and tongue, 2/ per lb.
Fruit. Apples.—Dessert, 3d to 5d per lb; cooking, sd. Pears.—Dessert, 6d per lb; cooking sd.
Outdoor tomatoes, 8d to 1/ per lb; bananas, 5d per lb; Sydney grapes, 1/3 per lb; pineapples, 1/3 to 1/9 each; and rhubarb, 4d per bunch. Lemons.—B for 1/; mandarins, 10 to 12 for 1/; oranges, 2/6 to 3/ per dozen, Poorman oranges, 1/6 to 1/9 per dozen; grape fruit, 6d each; Cape gooseberries. 8d per lb. Vegetables. New potatoes, small 4d per il», larger 6d; old Southern potatoes, 8 to 10 lb for 1/; onions, 61b for 1/; swedes, 121b for 1/; kumaras, 51b for 1/; pumpkin, 51b for 1/; hothouse cucumbers, 9d each; celery, 8d per head; asparagus, 6d per bundle; carrot, parsnip, beet and turnip, Id per bunch.
Cabbage, 2d to 6d each; cauliflower (advancing), 4d to 1/ each, and lettuce, 2d to 4d each.
Pish. Auckland retail prices to-Jay are: Fresh fillets (terekihi), large 4d each; fresh fillets (schnapper), 4d each; fresh fillets (Arevalii), 4d each; fresh fillets (John Dory), 6d each; fresh fillets (kingfish)7 4d each; kippered fillets, 6d each; lemon fish (strips), 5d each; cream fish, 3d each; mussels, lid each; gurnet, 3d each; fresh schnapper, small 6d each; fresh terekihi, large 6d each; trevalli, large 5d each; mullet, 5d each; flounder, 4d to 1/; hapuka steaks, 8d each; hapuka fins, 4d each; kingfish steaks, 6d each; smoked best terekihi, small 6d each; smoked best schnapper, small 9d each; smoked mullet, 6d each; smoked trevalli, 5d each; silver strip, 6d each; crayfish, 6d to 1/6 each; whitebait, 6d per glass; Canadian salmon, 1/6 per lb; moki steaks, 4d each; fresh fish steaks, Gd each; rabbits, 1/6 each.
