CUMMUNITY BUSES.
"WILL CONTINUE TO RUN."
INDIGNATION MEETINGS ARRANGED. petition to parliament. "The community buses will continue to run," was the definite statement made at the close of a meeting of suburban residents interested in community buses held at noon to-dav. It 'was decided to hold a series of indignation meetings, the first to be held at the Dominion Road terminus on 1 hursday evening, which will be followed by an open-air meeting at the old Civic Square on Friday evening. At the meeting indignation was expressed, and it was decided to forward a petition to Parliament, and approach the various suburban local bodies for support. Meeting in Mount Eden. A general meeting of the Mount Eden Transit and Social Club, formerlv known as the Suburban Transit and Social Club, was held last night at the residence of Mr. Harold Schmidt, Mount Eden. Hie meeting of fifty or so members was a fairly lively one. Mr. S. Bradley, the newly-appointed president, occupied tlio chair until the arrival of Mr. H. Schmidt, when he retired in tlio latter's favour. . Some of those present asserted that tho General Transit C'lub had entered into competition by means of motor cars adorned with crimson-let-tered banners bearing the legend "Community Cars."
The meeting was adjourned to the adiacent street, and Mr. Bradley again picsided. It was unanimously resolved that tho action of tho committee in eloetiii" a new president and secretary and °in changing the name of club be upheld. It was further decided to hold another general meeting of the club in a public hall.
