SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

The annual meeting of the Takaguna Croquet Club was held recently pavilion, the president, Mrs. Harden, presiding, when the dub prizes for last year's piny wore distributed. Tlie championship was gained by Mrs. A. White; runner-up, Mrs. Allen; handicap singles, Mrs. Allen; "merry-go-round.'' (a) Mrs. White, (b) Mrs. *Ruddell; handicap doubles, Mrs. Nagel and Mrs. White. The officers for the club during the coming season were elected, with Mrs. Arthur White as president; vice-president. Mrs. Allen; secretary, Mrs. Cutler; treasurer, Mrs. C. Black; A.C.A. delegates, Mesdames White and Harden. A hearty vote of thanks wae accorded to Mrs. Harden for the many services rendered the club as president during the last season. Mrs. C. J. Macindoe was hostess for a brilliant bridge party yesterday afternoon, the ballroom being converted into a reception room, with its subdued lights, masses of violets.
