WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK.

A wedding of considerable loeal interest took place last Friday at Palmerston North, when Brigadier-General William Meldrum, C.8., C.M.G.., D.5.0., Stipendary Magistrate of Greymouth! was married to Miss C. B. Dodson, eldest daughter of Mrs. L. R. Dodson, late of Greymouth. After spending a few day 3 in the district, the newly-wedded conple left for Auckland. MASSEY—METCALFE. The wedding was solemnised on June 22, at the Matakohe Church, of Mr. Jack Massev, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Massey, of Wairere, to Miss Kathleen Metcalfe, only daughter of Mr. aud Mrs. E. Metcalfe, of Matakohe. Mr. J. L. Mitchell, the Methodist minister, conducted the ceremony. The bride was given away by her father, and was charmingly dressed in ivory crcpe de chine with overskirt and cape of beautiful silk lace, with pearl trimmings. She wore the usual veil, tastefully arranged under a coronet of pearls and orange bolssoms and carried a bouquet of paper white narcissus with white heather and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Winifred Massey, sister of the bridegroom, wore shell pink taffeta with godets of silver lace, headdress of silver tissue caught in with a wreath of shaded pink leaves and a bouquet of pink begonia and maidenhair fern. Mr. Harry Massey, jun., was best man. Immediately after the ceremony a large number of guests were entertained at a reception in the Matakohe Hall. EASTGATE—BLACK. A wedding of interest took place at St. George's Church, Ranfurly Road, at. 7 p.m. last evening, when Mr. Henrj Eastgate, son of the late Mr. and Mrs Eastgate, of Dunedin, was married t< Miss Sophie Black, daughter of the lat Mr. and Mrs. J. Black, of Bay of Islands The bride, who was given away bv he. brother, Mr. Gerald Black, of Gisborne wore a charming rrock of ivory satin backed charmeuae, which was sleeveles.and fashioned in simple lines. A draping of georgette and pearl trimming fel softly in front of the bodice and thi skirt was draped to one side where it was caught with a spray of orange blossoms. The veil, which was of old lace, was caught on either side of the head with sprigs of orange blossoms, and she carried a beautiful shower bouquet in tones of pale pink and white flowers. Miss Mary Black, sister of the bride was bridesmaid and wore a frock of velvet in a delicate delphinium blue shade. The bodice was gracefully pouched at the waist and georgette sleeves were worn. On her head was a dainty cap of delphinium blue tulle, and she carried a shower bouquet in tones of pink. Two little girls, Mary and Raymond Kent, cousins of the bride, were flower girls, and wore dainty frocks of pale pink crepe de chine and little Dutch
