The second session of the first Synod ; of the Waiksto Diocese was continued to-day, Bishop CherringtoD presiding. ; The Diocesan Trust Board reported 1 that it had taken over the administration of tie trust properties, both \ parochial and diocesan, from July 31, , 1926. As the general trust board of the • Auckland diocese had refused to par i the costs of perusal of tbe documents of i transfer, none of the properties had so • far been transferred to tie board. In 1 addition to paving interest tbe followin;; reductions in principal had been effected: —Hamilton, £4"; Morrinerille, \ £25: Ohura. £22; Putaruru, £48; , Obaupo. £650. ! The report of the standing committee i stated that in connection with an appeal for £50.000 to augment the capital funds of the diocese approximately £12.000 had been paid or promised. The amount of grants to stipends for the \ year ending March 31, was £715. A new parochial district at Eawhia had ■ been created from April 1, and the first - vicar instituted. A scheme for the insurance against accident and sickness of church workers was explained by Mr. C. R. Stead, of Waitara, and it" wae ' decided to refer the question to the standing committee to report to the next , synod. The installation of the dean, the Rev. ! G. R. Barnett, and the six canons rom- • inated by the Synod, the Rers. E. H. Strong, J. A. Kempthorne, J. I*. A. Kayll, F. G. Harvie, E. S. Wayne and G. H. Gavin, was earned out with impressive ceremony at Bt, Peteiffl Cathedral in the evening. The sermon ! was preached bv Archdeacon F. G. Evans, of Xew Plymouth.
