ROAD MAINTENANCE.
HIGHWAYS BOARD'S WORK
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
TATJRAXGA, Tuesday. The chairmen, engineers and clerks of the various local bodies within the No. 3 Highways District were entertained at a dinner last evening by the chairman of the Tauranga County Council, Mr. R. King. Mr. M. H. Wynyard, a member of the Main Highways Board, and Mr. F. S. Dyson, district engineer of the Public Works Department, were also present.
Mr. Wynyard said the board placed great importance on the proper maintenance of metal roads, which protected the investment and allowed for greater good road mileage, because it was cheaper to maintain than to meet recurring construction. The whole success of operations was based on the co-operation of local bodies with the board.
