MORRINSVILLE WATER.

WORKS TAMPERED WITH. SERIOUS VIEW TAKEX. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MORRIXSVILLE, this day. The water supply of the Xew Zealand Lo-operative Dairy Company's factory at Mornneville was the subject of a further letter to the MorrinsviHe Borough Council last evening when the superintendent advised that he had decided to install a water sterilisation plant in view of the unfavourable nature of the reports on the quality of the water. The communication further intimated that while the council 8 statements that the reports had been exaggerated were reassuring it would be necessary to take everv precaution. In his report the borough engineer stated that some person had damaged the lock and cover to the intake chamber at the headworks of the borough water supply. It was a very serious matter when anything in connection with municipal waterworks was interfered with. The Mayor (Mr. S. S. Allen) commented upon the dangerous consequences that might arise from interference with the water supply. On his suggestion a motion was passed offering a reward for information that would lead to the conviction of any person damaging or in any way interfering with waterworks property. I In another section of his report the engineer referred to the conditions at the Willow Bridge. It would be almost impossible to get to the head works should a breakdown occur, and a serious delay would take place if it was found necessary to transport material beyond that point. A reasonable track to the headworks in all weather was most important. It was decided to write to the local body concerned and have the matter 1 remedied.
