FIGHTING COMPETITION.
RAILWAY POLICY. In the course of a discussion on railway freights at the conference oi Liie National Beekeepers' Association in Christchurch, Mr. E. W. Sage", South Auckland, said that if a beekeeper produced to a stationmaster a certificate showing that he could obtain freight by motor to any particular point, the railways were always prepared to meet the competition and reduce the charges. Accordingly he had approached his local stationmaster with a certain price for motor transport, and the stationmaster had made arrangements to take his honey at the same price.
Mr. A. R. Bates, Taranak>, said the railway business agent who had visited Taranaki in connection witli honey freights had said that where the railways were up against motor "com petition it was possible that some concession would be made.
