ALBURNIA. GOOD PICKED STONE PROCURED. Developments in the Alburnia mine, Thames are very encouraging at the present time, as some pieces ot good stone have been got showing good seams and dabs of gold. A most important icature is that the gold is petting coarser. alwa> s an excellent sign at Thames, fcoiue months ago there was excitement on Change ■when the Alburnia mine got on to picked stone. Since then a lot ot work has been, done. A drive -was put 50 feet further on and then a rise up 60 feet. An inter-j mediate level was then put backwards to get above where the gold was met with lower down. A stope was also taken along in which the branch reef ranged from 12 to 24 inches in width. Gold has been seen at intervals for the 35 feet driven in the intermediate, but during the last "week there has been a decided improvement and there are now hopes of meeting with a rich patch. This point is about L>o feet below the surface, and as the drive is going hillwards, the backs will increase. The locality is a good one. as it was f.bout 600 yards away, only still nearer the surface" that the real find was got by the old Alburnia Co. many years ago.
