The secretary of the Coal, Oil (XX). Ltd., Coy., reports tlmt acting upon the strong recommendation of Dr. John Wanner, professor of applied geology at Brun University, who discovered the oilfields at Wnipntiki, New Zealand, the directors of Coal. Oil (N'.Z.). Ltd.. lmve complete<l nej»otiations with the Klbof Company, for a complete geophysical survey of that field. This will be' the first survey of j>etroliferous areas in the southern hemisphere by the modern electro-magnetic induction method so successfully operated by the Elbof Company during recent years in the search for new commercial oilfields in other countries. Dr. Wanner, writing to the ctnn|uiny under date of March 24, last, state*: — "During the last few months I have had occasion to further study the various geophysical exploration methods, and I have acquainted myself with practically everything that has meanwhile been published in Germany. America and Sweden. Bused on this knowledge. I am inclined to believe that the electromagnetic method of the Elbof Company should liefore any of the others promise success."
In volume S oi the "Treatise* on Applied • Geology and Mining Science," published in 1026 by the National Geological Institute, Berlin, Dr. Rudolf Krahmann stated that "oil deposits, in all of the (Elbof) sun-eye hitherto carried out. have been dearly indicated." With the improved type of apparatus, the Elbof Company claims that it is possible to make investigations down to a depth of 6000 feet. .._._ .
