TWO NONAGENARIANS.
MR. THOMAS GERHARD
Aged 02 yean, Mr. Thomas Gcrrard. of Oak Lodge, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. G. F. Wells, Onehun = a, this week. He had retired from bustnc«« when he came to Xcw Zealand from England in ISB9. Mr. Gcrrard live.l lor two years at Dcvonport, and then wcut to Papakura, where he remained until about two rears ago. He was for manv years deacon treasurer of the Prc«»hvterian Church.
MR. JAMES BUTLER. Another resident of Papakura. Mr. James Butler, died on Tuesday, njred l>l years. He arrived in Auckland from Queens County, Ireland, about 60 years ago. The day after he landed. Mr. Butler walked the whole distance to Clevedon, where he secured work. Some time later ho took up a section nt Htinua, where he lived until a few years ago, when moved to Papakura. Mrs. Butler Mirvivee her husband. The interment took place this afternoon at the Catholic Cemetery., Papakura.

Later he was for 20 year* in the employ of the Kauri Timber Company at Auckland. Leaving that company, Mr. Burgess started sawmillimj on his own account at Stratford, where he vru for some time chairman of the Town Board. The interment will bo at Symonds Street cemetery to-morrow afternoon.
M. HENRI CILLET.
The death of M. Henri March Pierre Jacques Gillet at his residence, Great South Road, will he regretted by many friends in this city. He was one of the eldest mem hers of the French Colon v in New Zealand, and was lately a teacher Jf his language at the Ladies' College Remuera. He had previously been a tutor of French in Australia, .is well a« other parts of Now Zealand.
M. Gillet wa« lmrn at Km-hi-fort Mipermer. France. 7:2 year., ago. At the age of 20 ho was a member of tho French Colonial Artillery for seven years. As a sergeant he went to Senegal, where he took part in a war. Later, M. Gillet was at Xew Caledonia. He married an Australian lady at Brisbane, and for 30 years w n * a teacher of French there. Hβ was a member of the committee of tho French Club in Auckland, and a year ago. on the proposal of the French Club here, was appointed Officer of Academic. M. Gillefs only son, a telegraphist in the New Zealand Force*, was wounded at Gallipoli, and died at Grarenstapel, aged 20 years. The Rev. Cruickshank conducted the funeral service at the residence o f deceased, whose remains were cremated et Waiknmctc in accordance with the expressed wish of Mr. Gillet,
MR. K. N. SOUTAR.
The death of Mr. Kennelli Norman Soutar. at the ape of -ii year*, took place at Rotortia on Sunday. He «-.,* the third son of the late Rev. A. C. Soutar, the first vicar of St. GeorpeV. Whakatjine. He wg« born at Opotiki, but lived in Whnkatanc for over 30 years. He had been in failinp health for many years and a few week* a«n went to Rotonia for treatment. Jf o was unmarried. His surviving brother and sisters are: Mr. Edinnnd Soutar. of Auckland; Mrs. Guy Mitchell, of Hamilton and Mrs. E. Gaitt and Miss Soutar, of Wliaktane.
