"QUEENSWAY."
NEW NAME FOR STREET
ADOPTED WITHOUT AUTHORITY
WELLINGTON, this day.
Though the City Council has not yet formally moved in the direction of changing the names of Kent and Cambridge Terraces to Queens way, but has merely indicated its intention to do so—an intention which is creating a considerable discussion—someone has apparently badly beaten legal formalities, for Queensway name-plates are already firmly nailed, screwed, fastened and bound—in short, very much put on—several poles along the thoroughfares. Tho proprietors of various laundries, grocery shops, coal yards, etc., following the example, have had Queensway tacked on to their business plates. As a matter of 'act, the matter of changing the name has yet to bo discussed by the council. It has to be sanctioned by a special meeting and then advertised for not less than four weeks. Opposition to tho change comes from several directions, and the proposal will certainly be challenged when the time conies.
