SCHOOL STAFFING.
PROPOSED ALTERATION TO
GRADING SYSTEM
ATTITUDE OF EDUCATION BOARD
Tlie Education Department regards it as impracticable to consider yearly average attendances, bused on the. lour quarters ending September, instead of December, at present, for the purpose of dealing with the- stalling and grading of schools. This information was received at this morning's meeting of the Auckland Education Board.
When tho subject was raised for discussion, Mr. G. Brownlee said ho did not know whether tho board would be in order to say that they did not agree with the Department's conclusion. He certainly did not agree with it. The trouble was that tho proposal would be a change, and the Department did not want to make it. The alteration would allow teachers' appointments and adjustments to be made during the Christmas holidays.
The Chairman (Mr. A. Burns): 1 think this question is coining up at the Education Council.
It was decided to restate the case in favour of the amendment to the De-
partment
