SWEEPING VICTORY.
Quebec Liberals Returned to Power.
SEATS GAINED. MONTREAL, May 17. The Liberals, who have been in power in the Province of Quebec since 1897, swept the Province at the general election on Monday. They captured at least 72 out of the 85 seats, compared with 64 which they held at the dissolution. The Premier, Mr. L. A. Tascherau, and all the members of his Cabinet were re-elected. During the campaign the Conservatives censured the Administration for not awarding special damages to the parents of the victims of the disaster at a Montreal picture theatre on January 9, in which 78 children were killed.
