FARES TO EDEN PARK.
As a patron of Rugby football, mar J ask x through your columns how long the public wbe attend games at Eden Park are to be exploited by the sixpenny fare now charged for tram conveyance to the ground? I understand that there was some agreement whereby the present fare was to be reduced when the cost of putting in the loop line had been recouped by the City; Council. Surely this has now been achieved. If the Rugby Union is alive to the interests of its patrons it will take early action to have fares to the park fixed at a price commen- . surate with the distance travelled. It might even arrange for through tickets to the ground* from all termini. In these times of financial stringency it is asking too much of the average patron of football when he is required to pay one shilling to take him to and from hi* favourite game. Has either the City Council or the Rugby Union any explanation to offer for the continuance of the present exorbitant charge! "FARE'S FADS." , _~
