"EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEED."

Your article in Monday's "Star," under tSi above heading, discloses a very serious position in regard to immigration, and after reading it, one wonders how long this has been going on, and what steps, if any, the New Zealand Government are taking to check it. Have the agents who are responsible for these advertisements any authority for using the New Zealand Government's name, or is it used simply as a bait to catch the unwary? If the former, immediate steps should be" taken by tto authorities here to have these misleading advertisements withdrawn, but if they are inserted without proper authority those responsible should be severely dealt with. The position as regards unemployment in Auckland to-day is very serious, and something has got to be done, and I consider that we are entitled to look to the Government for some solution of the difficulty, as no doubt it is, to a large extent, responsible for the present state of affairs in bringing so many immigrants to the country, when we cannot" find work for our own people. We can do with settlers of the right sort, with a small capital, who would be willing to take up some of our idle lands, provided the Government had a suitable land policy, but here, again, they have failed.
