ABDUCTOR KILLED.
NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL SLAIN. NEW YORK, May 10. An abduction which has created a commotion in the Press here ended fatally for the abductor yesterday. Little Joe Marcus, a notorious figure in the under,-world, recently abducted Abraham Scharlin, a wealthy impresario, and was holding him for £50,000 ransom. Raiding a well-known criminal resort in the Hell's Kitchen district (lying -west of Central Park) last night police found Marcus hiding in a cellar. When called upon to surrender he opened fire on. the police, who replied, shooting him dead.
