"HABD WORK." "EXCLUDE LUXURIES." PRIME MINISTER'S MESSAGE. « VISIT TO TE KOPURU. 1 i.By Telegraph.—Special Reporter.) DARGAVILLE, this day. The gospgl of hard work, increased production and economy was expounded again by the Prime Minister this morning, when he addressed a gathering in the Coronation Hall at Te Kopuru, Mr. C. Walpole, who presided, and Mr. F. Wordsworth, of the Hobson County Couiitil, welcomed Mr. Coates and stressed the importance of his work at the Imperial Conference. "I know there are many who say the Prime Minister or the Government is responsible for the present depression," said Mr. Coates, in replying. "I happen to be the head of a Government that is being roundly criticised and blamed for all the ills of the country. Of course the Government is helping, and will help, to make things easier for those feeling the pinch, but I say quite definitely that the Government can no more find a solution for all the difficulties of this country than I can fly over the moon. Hasty, ill-considered legislation will pack up a pile of troubles that will be far more difficult to deal with than those we have now. We can and will get through our present depression, but it means hard work all round, economy and a readiness to exclude luxuries." Afterwards the Premier and Mrs. Coates visited Kaipara Hospital, an institution which was developed and is maintained on a rate of one farthing in the £ rate. Mr. McCarrol, chairman of the Hospital Board, showed the visitors all the modern improvements of the institution, which is served with a splendid drainage system and its own electric light.
