Lord Birkenhead on Trade Union Bill. GREAT FIGHT COMING. LONDON, May 15. "If our opponents imagine we are going to fight a critical election without the opportunity of arguing: on the merits of the Trade Union Bill, they little understand the traditions and the temper with which Conservatives approach such a struggle," said the Earl of Birkenhead, Secretary of State for India, in an address to the Junior Imperial League. Referring to the uproarious tactics of the Labour party in the by-elections, where Government supporters were shouted down, he said: "If they continue, we shall not be found helpless.
