CHRISTCHURCH SESSIONS.
ALLEGED THEFTS FROM EMPLOYERS.
ABOUT £10,000 INVOLVED.
(By Telegraph.—Pree» Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The criminal sessions of t%e Supreme Court opened to-day before Mr. Justice Adams.
"Some of the offences are of a grave character," said his Honor to the grand Jury, "I regret that amongst them are not less than three charge* of rape and one of indecent assault. There are eome serious cases, chiefly because of large amounts involved, of alleged thefts from employers by servants. Chiefly these concern the maintenance branch of the Railway Department, the charges in this respect involving about £7000. Alleged thefts by servants involve a total of about £10,000, which is quite a serious thing."
