MOTORIST RUNS AWAY.
TRAFFIC INSPECTOR ARRESTS HIM. I KEMAXDED AT POLICE COURT. During the traffic rush about five o'clock last evening a motor car crashed into the safety zone at the Grafton Bridge intersection, the front wheel being torn off and one of the rear wheels collapsing. The shield of the zone was badly damaged. Leaving his station, Traffic Inspector Blazey spoke to the- driver, who, it i 3 alleged, ran off through the crowd along Karangahape Road. Inspector Blazey gave chase and overtook the man in Belgium Street, later arresting him and consigning him to the Newton police lock-up. At the Police Court thie morning Alfred Roy Wilson Ellis (45) was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor car in Symonds Street last evening. Mr. Selwyn Clarke stated that Mr. J. J. Sullivan, who was this morning busily engaged at the Supreme Court, was appearing for Ellis and desired a remand until Thursday. > Mr. F. K. Hunt granted the ivmaud, fixing bail at £50. j I - i
