A motor car containing MesMs. Sciirfc and Black, who were coming from Kaetihi tor a bowling tournament, went over a bank in the Para para Road on Thursday night, and slid down a steep grade to the bottom of i( gully. During the rapid descent Mr. Searfe made a grab at some scrub. He succeeded in grasping it, but owing to the rapid speed at which the ear was travelling he was pulled out and left banging on to the scrub he had clutched. He received a bruised knee as a result of his fall. Mr. Black maintained his scat, nnd he considered himself lucky when the car pulled up at the end of the slope without any injury. The car had to be temporarily abandoned. Messrs. Searfe and Black continued their journey in another car. but they had anything but a pleasant time as they frequently had to get out and hold the ear on the greasy road.
