FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE.

RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHT, Saturday. The annual conference of the Auckland District Fire Brigades' Association was held to-k'ay. Thirty delegates were present. Superintendent H. Vause (Cambridge) was elected president, and Superintendent Henderson (Te Kuiti) senior vice-president. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £74 19/9. Business was of a routine nature. The weather was beautifully fine for the demonstration, and there was an exceptionally large attendance on the recreation reserve. The results of the competitions were: — Hose, Reel and Ladder. —Taumarcinui 65 3-ss, 1 : Thames 675, 2 ; Wnihl GSs. 3. Five-men Carry.—Whangarei 40 l-ss. 1 ; Thames 50 2-os, 2 : Onehunga 54 l-ss. 3. Baby Rescue.—Onehunga. 28 l-ss, 1; Thames. 295. 2 : Cambridge, 31s. 3. One Man Ladder Race. —Thames. 7 4-sr, 1 : Te Kuiti and Taumarunui. equal, Bs, 2. In the run-off Te Kuiti obtained second plane with 7s. Taumarunui 7 2-ss. Three Men "mw for Places. —Te Aroha and Onehunga. 3.1 2-ss, 1 : Waihi. 3« l-ss, 2. Watts Championship Shield for the highest aggregate.—Onehuuga, 58J. 1 : Thames. 50'. 2 ; Taumarunui, 42. 3 : Waihi, 39, 4. Two Men (wet). —Te Aroha, 34; Waihi and Dnrgaville. 36. equal. ASSEMBLY AT PETONE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Twenty-four teams arrived at Petone last night to compete in the United Districts Fire Brigades demonstration. At the annual conference the balancesheet showed a credit of £56 5/G. and £20 was voted to the,Fetonc brigade for the cost of the demonstration.
