NGATA SCORES IN CHIEF EVENT. JUKI A BALK TO FORM AGAIN. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") FEILDINO, Saturday. The Feilding Easter meeting opened in ideal weather. There was a large crowd of spectators, and the course was in excellent order. Where Experience Counted. Acre was on the move directly the barrier went up in the Ongo Handicap, and was followed by Town Bird, Ohui, and Lady Cynthia. He was still leading entering the straight, where Ohui had enough. Lady Cynthia threatened trouble on the rails, but Bert Morris' experience landed the. favourite first past the post a long neck in front of Town Bird, with Lady Cynthia a clear length away. Abbey Queen, Hathor, Mon Mint and Royal Flight followed. Ngata Defeats The Lamb. Shining Armour and The Lamb were the show out in the Manchester Handicap. They were followed past the stand by Novar* Ngata, Pita, and Captain Gazeley. This order was maintained down the back, but the field closed up on the bend. ' Ngata came through at the distance, followed by Merry Day, and, finishing well, won nicely by a length and a-half. The Lamb ran better than was expected to beat Merry Day (finishing well) by a couple of lengths. ' Shining Armour and Scotch Mixture did best of the others. Monsogne Wins Nicely. In the Maiden Stakes Callanmore was smartest to begin, but after a furlong was displaced by Hallowmorn, Star Chamber, . and Cavity- On tho turn Star Chamber led Monsogne, but ran wide, and the favourite headed her when straightened up, followed by Cavity, and Sanagra- Monsogne ran on, winning nicely by two lengths. Valkon Wins the Taonui Handicap.

Break o' Day was the first to show out in the Taonui Handicap, from Great Day, Rising Star, and Royal Land. At the half-mile Break o' Day led Rising Star, Partaga. Royal Land, and Great Day. with Yalkon commencing his run. At the entrance to the straight Partaga was just behind Break o . Day, who compounded, followed by Royal Land and Valkon. The latter finished well, and wore down Partaga, winning by a head, Catcall being four lengths away, and Break o' Day, Horomea, Great Day, and Royal Land next.

Tukia Never Headed. Tukia was smartest to begin in the Mangaone Handicap, and was never headed. Bevis was alongside her going down the back, with Bright Knight 5 , Mireusonta and Royal Damon next. As they straightened up for the run home, Crown Area attempted to get through on the rails, but failed, and Tukia, running on, scored by three-quarters of a length. Bevis, Crown Area (unlucky), and Kalos were separated by half* a length next behind Archeen. Lieutenant Bill Hits the Front. From a good start Paitonu was smartest to begin in the Onepuhi Hack followed by Inoe, Lieutenant Bill and Kilburn. Going down the back Lieutenant Bill took second place, Inoe, Bent and Capitulation being next. Though Paitonu led into the straight, Lieutenant Bill had it on him in the run to the judge, and won by half a length, heads separating Capitulation, Paitonu and Bent in that order. Radiate finished next. Another "Brass Hat" in Firing Line. Vivo, iliss Hupana, Allmarimba, and Vivi, Miss Hupana, Allmarimba, and Brigadier Bill down the back. At the half-mile Miss Hupana was second to Peneus, followed by Vivo, Brigadier Bill and Royal Diadem. The top-weight was still in front entering the straight, where Brigadier Bill made his run, coming away to win easily by two lengths. Royal Diadem was a neck away from Pencils.
