MAIN ROAD IMPROVEMENTS.

PUTARURU TO TOKOROA. Steady progress is being made with the improvements to the main South Road between Putaruru and Tokoroa. The bitumen surfacing of the first six miles to Lichfield is now completed. Between Lichfield and Tokoroa a gang of fifteen men are employed on metalling and formation work. "With the completion of these improvements the worst section of the main high way on the Auckland-Taupo-Napier route should be secured against a repetition of the impassable conditions of last winter.
