INSURANCE ON BUILDINGS

ESTIMATES FOR COMING YEAR

The total estimate for capital and maintenance expenditure is £(50.32.1, compared with £oU,:i.">u 7/3 for the previous year. All tlie levies for 1920-27 have been received by the board with the exception of one aui unt which is expected to come to hand within the next few days. The treasurer's monthly report shows receipts amounting to £12.K:50 10/, including a subsidy of £.">(>79 IS/7, and £.">tS.'l2 11/10 in levies. Hospital fees were £IU.VJ IK/fi. The committee set up to consider the matter of the insurance of the Waikato Hospital Hoard's buildings recommended that buildings in brick and concrete be not insured, as the ri-k of lire in that class of building is practically nil. The proposed insurances for the coming year would represent u saving of approximately £70 per annum to the board. In connection with the question of establishing reserve funds against fire and accident, it had been ascertained that the board had no power to establish reserve funds for the purpose. It was decided to effect insurances in accordance, with tlie recommendation.
