WOMEN MEMBERS' CONFERENCE. CniLD WELFARE ACT DISCUSSED. (R.v Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. The first national conference of women members of the Labour Party opened in Napier yesterday, Mrs. Snow (Wellington I, presiding. Mrs. Stewart (Wellington! delivered a paper on 'Co-operative Trading. "* through which, she said, the needs of the family could lie supplied under the democratic control of the people themselves, instead of by a system of capitalism. A resolution was passed calling for amendments of the Child Welfare Act. which was said to place too much power in the hands of those in charge of its administration.
