EGG LAYING.
AUCKLAND POULTRY-KEEPERS. | FIRST WEEKS LAYING. The Auckland Poultry-keepers* Association's ninth siugle pen ami team contest and fourth single bird contest commenced on April 4. It Is gratifying to the officials of the association to be able to report a full penning of birds of the usual nice quality. Two new breeds made their first appearance. Light Sussex and Barncvelders. The two popular breeds. Black Orpingtons and White Leghorns, are in the customary strong force. The ducks are well represented in Fawn and White, White Runners and Khaki Campbells. Several entries of ducks had to be refused, the available pen space being quickly bqoked. The following are the leading teams to date, the figures in parentheses being the weekly totals, and the last set the team aggregates :— SINGLE BIRD CONTEST. Black Orpingtons (11 birds). —A. IT.
