PROTECTION SOCIETY.

At the monthly meeting of. the committee of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, the secretary reported that 31 cases had been attended to since last meeting. Of this number. 15 dealt with troubles between wives and husbands, seven concerned children or young girls, threv were affiliation cases, one mother against sons for support, five various matters. The inspector reportetd that during the last two months she had dealt with 32 cases making 115 visits in connection with them She had spent eight mornings in the S.M Court, and one uiorninog in the Supreme Court.

A vote of thanks was passed to the exe cutors in the estate of the late Sir Henry Brett, a cheque for £200 having been received from them, being amount of the bequest left to the society by Sir Henrv Brett.

The matter of the street collection to be held on the 27th May came up for discussion, and it was resolved that the thanks oL" the meeting he accorded to .ill the borough councils anil road boards, as well as to the City Council, who have 2iven their consent to the holding of a street collection on the 27th May next. A vote of thanks was also passed to the Kver-Keady Committee of the Victoria League for their donation to the funds of the society.
