GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
CANTERBURY MARKETS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, Friday
Auckland is usually the beat market for onions, as it is for potatoes, but this season practically no business is being done there with them, except in respect of what was sold forward some time ago. While wheat is supposed to be a little firmer, not a great deal of it is changing hands, millers having sufficient to meet all demands. It is too early yet to ascertain how much will be grown for next season. Better prices have been received for Partridge peas for the London market, but if too many farmers should decide to crop them next season the values might drop considerably. Barley is another line that has received disappointingly low prices, and consequently it is not likely that it will be in favour. The position regarding seeds is unchanged since last week, there having been no movement. ; Oats are a little firmer than thev were. , being now worth about a penny a bushel
