SOUTHERN NOMINATIONS.

MANY SEATS UNCONTESTED. SURPRISE IX CHRISTCIIURCH. The following additional nominations for municipal honours in the Southern centres arc notified per Tress Association:— Christehurch.—Messrs. J. K. Archer (sitting) and C. I'. Agar have been nominated for the Mayoralty, the first by Labour and the second by the Citizen's Association. For 16 seats in the City Council, :$4 candidates have been nominated. Sixteen arc Labour representations, sixteen are representatives of the Citizens' Association and two arc independent.

New Plymouth.—Mr. F. E. Wilson, the retiring Mayor, has been re-elected un opposed. Seventeen nominations have been received for the Borough Council. Marton.—The retiring Mayor, Mr. F. Purnell, has been returned unoposed and the number of nominations for the Borough Council does not exceed the number of candidates required.

Eltham.—Mr. T. J. Bridger has been re-elected Mayor unopposed. There are ten nominations for nine seats on thcBorough Council.

Taihape.—Mr. A. J. Joblin has been returned unopposed as Mayor for his fifth term of office. Only seven nomina tions were received for the seven seats on the Borough Council.

Levin.—Mr. T. Hobson was elected unopposed for the Mayoralty. There are 13 nominations for seats on the council.

Invcreargill.—Messrs. J. Miller and S. M. McDonald have been nominated for the Mayoralty and 20 nominations have been received for 12 seats on the council.

Blenheim.—Mr. N. McKcnzie has been re-elected unopposed. There are 13 nominations for nine seats on the Borough Council.

Hokitika.—Mr. George Perry has been re-elected Mayor. There are hi nominated for nine scats in the Borough i ouncil.

Koss.—Mr. P. .T. Evans has been reelected Mavor. No eleetinn is neccs -nry for the Borough Council.

Core.—Messrs. David McDougall and Messrs. Dugald and Poppelwcll have been nomiaaisd lot Uie Mayoralty.
