CATHOLIC PRIMARY TEAMS.

NEW ASOCIATION FORMED. The Catholic Primary School Sports Association has adopted Association football as the winter pastime in the scliool>. The Auckland Football Association has offered its assistance in conducting a com ; petition, a delegation of the Schools Association Waiting on the A.F.A. ia*i Brothers Luke (pricipal) and Igoratius bv request, attended the meeting and were cordially welcomed by the chairman, Mr. \ Men'zics. He expressed the greatest pleasure that the Catholic schools liul cnr.sen the code and he assured the rjprcsentatives present that the A.F.A. wou.d do its utmost to assist thrm. Brother I-nke returned thanks chairman's welcome. He said the Catholic schools had entered Association football through no spirit of antagonism to any other code. The decision had been arrived at for the sake of the boys. Many of the boys were not able to play any winter sr.Vme. and it was for their benefit that the Association cot'e was decided upon. Soccer it was felt was the only practicable game suited for .-ill hoys irrespective of size or weight, and it was on those grounds that the game was adopted. S iccer was at present being played in different places in Cnt*">lio schools, and the relationships between the schools and the Soccer authorities had always been most friendly. The game was in 9 healthy condition and the brother referred to the gratifying success of the Marist Old Boys in the Soccer corle at Wellington. In Auckland th're would be about 22 boys' teams in the Catholic primary schools' competition, and lie welcomed the A.F.A.'s >uer ot assistance.
