April IS—Kumara Racing Club (two events). April IS —Beaumont Racing Club (two events). April 10—Riverton R.C. Annual (two events). Nellie Parsons who ran second to Explosion on Saturday and won the IWa ngatiui Stakes on Monday, is one of L. Berkett's team. A pa'cer who was unlucky in the running in the Wanganui Cup, was Karma. The chestnut was not started the second day but is engaged at Hawera on Saturday. Gold Circle should have a great chance In the Auroa Handicap at Hawera on Saturday, but, after his exhibition at the barrier at the frames meeting, backers will not support him with anv flegree of confidence. Horizon and Admiral Hcod. who go to Hawera to-day under G. Robertson's charge, were worked out together on Monday, but their efforts were nothing Jvonderful and would not make either fcf them appear likely to get a stake. Abrubanya won the Innovation Handifcap at Wanganui on Saturday, but only iad to go 3.48 1-5. On the second dav this pacer finished third to Enawali and Halgana and registered 3.36 2-5, but Jias been left on the limit of a 3.45 class Hawera. A. Cameron was very disappointed with the showing of Aggie Bell in the Wanganui Cup, and remarked afterwards that he would not take her on to Hawera. However, she has been paid up for the first day, which suggests he has altered his plans.

J. Sliaw did no> good with his own fiorses Peter McDonald and Direct Morning at Wanganui, but he drove Tui Zolock to victory in the mile and a-quuYter the first day. On the second day, Claude Fairman, who does the riding for Shaw's stable, won the mile saddle on Great Kevin.

_Mr. P. J. Docherty went south last Jiight to see his mare, Bridget Galindo. race at the Metropolitan meeting at Addinpton. Bridget Galindo is on the limit in the Preliminary Handicap, and such a solid little trotter should give a account of herself, although she will bo meeting much stronger opposition than she has so far encountered. The successful pacing mare, Onvx, who has finished her racing career, having proved in foal to Peter Chenault, lias won over most distances. She has started in 96 races,' won 15, finished second 21 times, third 14, and fourth twice, while in stake money she has annexed £10,637. She holds the record of 3.13 (against time), for a mile and a'-half. Mr. D. McDonnell, who died last week fit the age of fifty years, was a member of a well-known Ashburton family which has been closely associated with the trotting sport for many years. He was secretary of the Ashburton Trotting Club for a short period, and in later years he held office as vice-president, committeeman and steward. His health has been far from satisfactory for some time past.

The bookmaker who yelled even money the field when betting: opened on the Novice Unhoppled Handicap at Victoria Park was nearly killed in the rush, says a Sydney writer. Although a newcomer, everyone on the course wanted to back Goldfinder in the Novice Lnhoppled Handicap, and in the end the books were asking 3 to 1 on, and offering 10 to 1 bav 1. Goldfinder made play tilings of the opposition and won from his stablemate Cubanette, in 3.36. Brown has in Goldfinder the most promising young nnhoppled horse that has made its appearance on the Sydney tracks for •some time past. He is a four-year-old gelding by Golden Bobbie from a' dam by Medlow Bath.

The West Australian totalisator gets its full pound of flesh out of the punter (says the Sydney "Sportsman.") In New South Wales and New Zealand the tote pays to the nearest sixpence, but in W.A. it pays no fraction of a shilling. If the dividend amounts say, to 6/11, the tote collars the elevenpence, which goes to the State Government and the racing organisations. In a recent race at Perth on the 5/ tote, the dividend actually paid was 5/ on the first horse and the second horse 8/. The calculated dividends were 5/4 and 8/11. The tote collared the 4d and the lid on each ticket, which added another 8 per cent to the 12J per cent taken outside the fractions, 20J per cent in all. TARAIRE'S DISQUALIFICATION. took similar action in the case of Canton, a son of Breeze and described as the best pacer bred in West Australia. Recently Canton vas driven in such a style by his lessee-driver, H. Moran, that the stewards were dissatisfied. The official activities precluded Canton taking part in the W.A. Trotting Derby in which he. was regarded as n.o only candidate likely to trouble tne Victorianbred Katie Wood. Eventually Canton and Moran were disqualified for two years. An appeal against the disqualification met with a refusal. TROTTING IN ENGLAND. '"The Trotting World" (England) gives particulars of the winnings of horses at the Audenshaw (Manchester) meetings for 1920. and the small stakes offered in England. The leading stake winner for the season was the three-year-old pacing filly, Evelyn Rca Direct, who, as a result of winning five races, annexed £305. Our Meg was second on the list with five races worth £208, but Mary Piekford 'had to win 10 races to earn £IS6. Rosetta M., a trotter, won two races worth £175. This mare is blind, but in the Manchester Stakes in September last she showed a mile rate of 2.17. As showing the value of some of the stakes raced for it is only necessary to state that the ten races won by Abe Ozburn netted £131. Nelly Taba won l;> races of the total value of £122. A.M. 12 races worth £111, Abe Direct six races worth £40, and Farmer's Lad six races worth £33. Concerning trotting in Scotland the same paper has the following: "The gigantic gale did great damage in Glasgow and Western C'arntyn track did not escape, the framework only of the stands being left, while both of the judges' boxes were blown down, also palings and fencings around the grounds. In spite of the damage the usual weekly meeting was held."
