A GOOD ADVERTISEMENT

Apart from the value of actual sales made, this Dominion appears to be securing an excellent advertisement through the export of its butter to the United States and Canada which has been taking place recently. A Montreal produce dealer has inserted the following advertisement in a local {journal:—"You can now enjoy the full fresh flavour of fresh made butter from green pastures. The world of to-day is comparatively a short span, and while we in Canada may be suffering from severe cold, New Zealand is grazing her cows in green pastures and turning her rich cream into fresh-made butter." The advertiser, it may be noted, is quoting New Zealand butter at 1 cent, practically per lb, above Canadian No. 1 butter. Butter. The "New York Produce Review'' of March 16 states that "England has been struggling with increased supplies of butter and an Inadequate outlet. Seeing an opportunity, it is unloading part of the stocks on the American market. She has cut prices so far below our local (New York) product as to attract interest from here. Best New Zealand can be laid down in New York at two cents (Id) and more below our own goods. This naturally affects the values of operators. London is quoting 34 cents (1/5) c.i.f. for Xew Zeai* butter and 3."> cents (l'£Vi) for unsaited Argentine.
