RUSH OF NOMINATIONS.

SIXTY-ONE FOR COUNCIL,

EXCEPTIONAL INTEREST SHOWN,

A rush of nominations for the City Council, and the city seats on the Hospital Board and the Harbour Board took place this morning before the closing of nominations at noon. The rush continued until the last minute.

Ratepayers will have no cause to complain as far as numbers are concerned: for there is an entry of four candidates for the city mayoralty. 01 for the 21 seats on the council. ]0 for the five vacancies on the Hospital Board and ten for the four vacancies on the Harbour Board, making a total of 01, compared with 00 in 1021, which stood as the previous record.

On the City Council nil the sitting members, with the exception of Messrs. I'. F. Bennett, .T. W. Hardlev and Jas. Robertson, are ana in standing, Jlessrs. Bloodworth and Warnock being at this election, candidates for the "mayoral chair. The council nominations include a "ticket' of 2L by the Progressive Citizens' Lea cue and a "ticket" of 11 in Labour interests.
