MR. BLOOD WORTH'S DECISION. WILL GO TO THE POLL. Mr. T. Bloodworth, who, a week ago agreed to accept the nomination of the Labour Representation Committee for the Mayoralty, this morning definitely announced that he would go to the poll. Mr. Bloodworth is a present member of the City Council, and when ho accepted nomination he reserved to himself the right to decide whether he would be a candidate. After considering the position he has arrived at the decision mentioned above. Mr. Bloodworth was born in Lincolnshire in ISS2, and is now in his 40th year. A« a young man he came to New Zealand in 1908 to relatives and friends who were amongst the early settlers. For a year he worked at his trade of a carpenter, and then left Christchurch and came on to Auckland, where he secured work in the building of Grafton Bridge. He worked on the bridge for two years, and in 1012 he married and went for a trip ITome. Coming back to the Dominion Mr. Bloodworth followed his trade till the 1913 strike, when he started on his own account in a small way. In April. 1914. he was elected organising secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, a position he has held ever since. He was advocate in the. Arbitration Court for his own society, and al*o acted for numerous other unions at different times. 11l 1919 he was elected a member of the City Council, and has been re-elected at each election since. In 1923 he was ele<7ted a member of the. Auckland Harbour Board, and was re-elected in 192."). while lie has been a member of the Auckland Power Board since its formation in 1922. He was also a member of the Seddon Memorial Technical College Board of Governors for many years, and has been associated with many other voluntary unofficial organisations.
