IN A CHINESE LAUNDRY.
GIRLS FOUND AT 1 A.M.
SORDID STORY AT WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.— Special to "Star."> • WELLINGTON, this day. ; ''These two girls were found at one o'clock this morning in a Chinese laundry in Taranaki Street," said Sub.Inspector Harvey at the Magistrate's Court, when Ivy Smith (18) and Audrey Jones (23), described as domestics, admitted being idle and disorderly, in that they had insufficient, lawful means of support. "Jones' parents live in Dunedin, and the girl says hi:r mother sends her £1 10/ a week," the sub-inspector continued. "She admits she has been living with the Chinese fcr two weeks, while the other girl states she gets £3 a week for living with them." In order to enable the police to communicate with their parents, Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., remanded both accused to appear on Wednesday ior sentence.
